AI setup and privacy

Open Menu → Preferences → AI, choose a provider, paste a key, and select an available model. Nox supports OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, xAI, DeepSeek, Mistral, and OpenRouter.

Your key is checked with the provider, encrypted before storage, and never shown back to the browser. Requests are billed by your provider. Nox tracks token usage so you can see estimated spend and enforce a monthly limit.

For extra protection, also set a spending cap in your provider’s dashboard. You can replace or disconnect the key at any time; disconnecting turns off chat and daily briefs but keeps saved chats and briefs.

AI features are unavailable in the public demo.

Providers and models vary in price, speed, and quality. Start with a lower-cost general model; the picker shows options available to your key.

When your monthly Nox limit is reached, AI pauses until it resets or you raise it. A provider cap also protects usage outside Nox.

Disconnect the key if you no longer want Nox to send workspace context to that provider.
