About Nox
Nox is a productivity system built by me – Amit, founder of Hopium Studio, which also happens to be the product & creative studio behind Nox.
Nox began as a personal war room to track all my projects, hold myself accountable, and keep moving toward the goals I set for myself.
At Hopium, we build products and creative work across AI, crypto, SaaS, manufacturing, consumer goods, IT, and more. Alongside the studio, I also build products of my own and contribute to other projects that interest me.
Each day can mean moving between engineering, design, brand, marketing, client work, and admin. Many of the deadlines exist only in my head. I needed a way to see everything I had committed to. More than that, I needed to know what deserved my attention today.
Task lists don’t solve much
I’ve been a productivity enthusiast for over a decade now. I started using Notion back in 2015, when it was just a simple notes app. Since then, I’ve built countless boards, workspaces, templates, and trackers for myself and the teams I’ve worked with. At several companies, I built the entire operating workspace from the ground up.
Those systems made work easier to document and track. Yet, I could keep adding projects & tasks without seeing when I’d taken on too much. A full task list told me what I might do. It rarely helped me decide what I could do, or whether those tasks would bring me closer to the goals I’d set.
That uncertainty followed me through the day. I could choose a task and still feel the other projects lingering in the background. I wanted the calm that comes from knowing the work in front of me matters, and that everything else has a place in a plan I can trust.
Why I built Nox
Nox connects goals to projects, projects to tasks, and tasks to the time available to do them. It helps me see what I’m taking on, choose a realistic plan for today, focus on one thing, look back at what actually happened, and have a smooth experience the whole time.
I built a version of Nox nearly a year ago, and have been using it locally since. Recently, I decided to brand it and launch to the public, as people around me started using it for their own lives.
I built it first for myself: a solo founder working across several disciplines, often setting my own priorities and deadlines. I’m still building for that person. If you’re also a high-agency workaholic who loves building, you need a system that can help you make honest choices about your time.
AI that helps quietly
AI has made it easier than ever to start something. I can explore a strategy with ChatGPT or tinker with a prototype in Claude Code or keep adding new features to my Cursor project. I can also spend the whole day doing that without finishing what I meant to finish.
I believe AI can help us achieve ambitious goals when it has the right context and is built into the right product. It can find a missing step, question an overloaded plan, or notice that a project keeps slipping. It should help you see what you might have missed.
My hope is that Nox becomes useful without demanding more of your attention. Explain your goal, shape a plan, then get on with the work. When the plan needs another look, Nox should be there to help. The rest of the time, it should let you work.
What we’re building toward
Across our work at Hopium, we keep returning to the same question: how can technology give people more room for the work that matters to them? Nox is my most personal attempt to answer it.
There has never been a greater time to build something on your own. The tools available to a solo founder keep getting more powerful. One person will soon be able to build a company at a scale that once required 100s of people. But possibility alone won’t do the work. You still have to choose a direction, make room for it, and keep going.
I built Nox to help me do that. I hope it helps you do the same.
